WAUKESHA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-7-0) conceded three second half goals in a 4-1 loss at Carroll (7-1-1) on Wednesday.
The host Pioneers took the lead in the 19th minute on their first shot on goal.
Kati Frierdich (Neenah, Wis./Winneconne) pulled the Pointers level in the 32nd minute.
Sophia Reddan (Madison, Wis./West) served a free kick from near midfield into the 18-yard box. Frierdich rans behind the defense and poked the ball past the CU goalkeeper to tie the match at 1-1.
The match remained tied until the 54th minute. The Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick and converted to regain the lead.
Insurance goals by Carroll were added in the 74th and 85th minute to complete the scoring.
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and
Brookelyn Heiss (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) each made one save while splitting time in net. Carroll's Rachel Jenewein had seven saves in the win.
The Pointers close out the road trip on Sunday (Sept. 26) with a 4:00 p.m. match at St. Norbert.
