STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (2-2-0, 2-2-0) found itself in a sizable first-period hole and couldn't dig out in a 6-2 defeat to UW-River Falls (2-2-0, 2-2-0).
UWRF scored three goals in the first period on just six shots. Another goal early in the second saw UWSP in a 4-0 hole.
Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich./) got the Pointers on the board with 1:10 left in the second, his second goal of the year.
Colin Raver (Bartlett, Ill./) added an assist, his team-leading fourth point of the year, and the third-straight game he had an assist.
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn./) got the Pointers within two with 5:23 to play. His goal on the power play was his second of the year.
Ryan Orgel (Los Angeles, Calif./) got the assist on the play. The Falcons added two late goals to complete the scoring.
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind./) made 13 saves over the final two periods in relief. Dysen Skinner stopped 24 shots to earn the win for UWRF.
The Pointers will face UW-Superior on Wednesday (Feb. 17) at K.B. Willett Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
