Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Collins’ Double-Double Not Enough as Pointers Fall in First Round

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Junior Bailee Collins (Milton, Wis./Milton) recorded her third double-double of the season, but the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (10-16) fell in the first round of the WIAC Championship (presented by Culver's) by a 72-63 final to UW-Eau Claire (17-9).

Collins ripped down a game-high 12 rebounds to go with her 12 points for UWSP.  Fellow junior Taylor Greenheck (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie) led the Pointers with 17 points.  Sophomores Amber Baehman (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) and Jessica Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho) were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Collins scored UWSP's first four points and the Pointers were ahead 12-7 midway through the first quarter.  Slowik drilled a three and Collins gave UWSP a 17-11 advantage, but UWEC scored the final seven points to take an 18-17 lead into the second.

Baehman nailed a three early in the second, but the Blugolds pushed the run to 17-5 before Baehman scored again with 3:29 left in the half.  Greenheck scored UWSP's final four points of the quarter and the game was tied 28-28 at the half.

The Blugolds opened a two-possession lead early in the third quarter, but seven points in the quarter by Slowik kept UWSP close, trailing 47-45 heading to the fourth.

UWEC opened the fourth with a 10-0 run over the first three minutes as UWSP was behind by a dozen.  A three-pointer by Carly Cerrato (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) and five-straight by Greenheck helped the Pointers rally to within two points with 1:57 remaining.  The Blugolds finished the game on a 9-2 run to put UWSP away.

Cerrato hit her 39th three-pointer of the season in the game.  It was her 157th career three-pointer, the fourth-most in program history.
