STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 1-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (25-0-2) defeat UW-River Falls (12-11-5), 6-2 on Saturday at K.B. Willett Arena to advance to their fourth-straight WIAC Championship game (presented by Culver's).
Midway through the first period, Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis.) opened the scoring for the Pointers at 11:26 with Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.) and Drew McLean (Waterford, Mich.) getting assists on the play.
Fader doubled UWSP's lead three minutes later with his second goal of the night. He was assisted by TJ and Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.).
After a scramble in front of the net, Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) increased the lead to 3-0, 3:08 into the second period. Stephan Beauvais (Shelby Township, Mich.) and Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich.) picked up the assists. With his 19th career game-winning goal, Karty tied Paul Caufield for the record that was previously set in 1988-92.
Just 23 seconds later, Zech scored off a rebound and made it 4-0 with Karty tallying the assist.
At 8:22 of the second period, Chris Allemon (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) recorded his first career goal as a Pointer. Steven Quagliata (Bartlett, Ill.) added the helper.
UW-River Falls broke up the shutout midway through the second to make the score, 5-1.
The Pointers' Kelly O'Brien (Detroit, Mich.) responded, scoring at the 14:55 mark of the period with Zech and Karty each picking up their second assists of the night.
The Falcons added a second goal early in the third, but it was not enough as the Pointers won, 6-2.
Sophomore goaltender, Connor Ryckman (Minesing, Ont.), earned the win, improving to 22-0-1 on the season. He made 20 saves in the game. Falcons' keeper Joe Marcoullier was pulled three minutes into the second period after giving up four goals. He made 16 saves. Marcoullier was replaced by Zach Quinn, who allowed two more goals and made 16 saves in the game.
The Pointers will face UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC Championship game on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.

All tickets for the men's hockey games will be reserved seats at $10.00 per ticket with the exception of 400 student tickets at $3.00 each. U.S. Bank will provide the first 100 students at their DUC location, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. With the recent trend of sell-outs at Willett Arena, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
Men's hockey season ticket holders will have the opportunity to renew their same seats from the regular season at $10.00 per ticket. Deadline for season ticket holders to reserve their seats from the regular season will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 5:00 p.m. Any unclaimed season tickets at that point will be released for sale to the public.
