RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-10-2, 1-3-1) completed its season series with No. 6 UW-River Falls (17-2-0, 5-0-0) on Saturday, falling by an 8-1 final.
Freshman
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) got the nod in net and made a career-best 41 saves in the game. She made 12 saves in the first period, holding the Falcons scoreless until the final minute.
UWRF scored twice in the second period and jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Pointers could break through.
Alana Achterkirch (St. Michael, Minn./North Wright County) scored at the 15:13 mark of the third period, her second goal of the year. Freshman
Morgan Oettinger (Beaver Dam, Wis./Madison Capitols) got an assist on the play. UWRF scored again in the final minute of play to conclude the scoring.
Senior
Mackenzie Kratch (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) led UWSP with four shots on goal. Freshman
Sophie Regovic (Naperville, Ill./Chicago Mission) added three shots on goal as UWSP totaled 17 on net in the game.
The Pointers return home next Saturday (Jan. 26) to begin a three-game series with UW-Eau Claire. Puck drop at Ice Hawks Arena is slated for 2:30 p.m.
