STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Freshman
Esme Reinders (Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) tallied her third goal of the season in the 76th minute as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-0-1) earned a comeback 2-2 draw with visiting Carthage (2-1-1) on Saturday.
Sophomore
Gracie Wendels (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Assumption) got the Pointers on the board first in the fifth minute of play. Her unassisted tally was her first of the season.
The Lady Reds tied the match in the 23rd minute on a free kick to send the game to half tied at 1-1. In the 50th minute, Carthage scored to take a 2-1 lead.
Reinders got the equalizer in the 76th minute on an assist from fellow freshman
Bridget Kauzlaric (Coal City, Ill./Coal City). Neither team was able to generate a shot on frame in overtime.
Wendels had three shots in the match, all of frame.
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) also added three shots.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made three saves, all in the second half.
UWSP faces Marian on Sunday (Sept. 9) at 2:00 p.m. at Point Soccer Bowl before setting out on a four-match road trip over the next two weeks.
