Baehman’s 24 Leads Women’s Basketball Past SNC

DE PERE, Wis. – Freshman Amber Baehman (Plainfield, Wis. /Tri-County) tied her career-high with 24 points as the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (4-4) earned a 65-58 win at St. Norbert (2-6) on Saturday.
 
Beahman shot 9-for-14 from the floor and made 5-of-6 free throws.  She also grabbed eight rebounds.
 
Junior Carly Cerrato (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) also scored in double digits with 11 points.  She topped the team with five assists.  Sophomore Taylor Greenheck (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie) scored 10 points to round out the trio of double-figure scorers for UWSP.
 
Cerrato made a layup just under two minutes into the game to break a 2-2 tie and the Pointers went on a 6-0 run.  She nailed a three later in the period to move the lead to seven.  Olivia Pawlak (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) got on the board at the 2:12 mark to make it 17-10.  Baehman scored four points in the final minute to give UWSP a 21-16 edge after one.
 
Baehman scored the first seven points of the second quarter as UWSP pulled ahead 28-16.  Baehman added four more points and the Pointers were in front 36-22 at the half.
 
Kellan Schmidt (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) hit a jumper early in the third to extend the lead to a game-high 16 points at 40-24.  Baehman scored the lone basket in a 15-2 SNC run as the lead slimmed to just three.  Cerrato capped the quarter with a three as UWSP remained ahead at 52-43 after three.
 
Bailee Collins (Milton, Wis./Milton), Taylor Greenheck (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie) and Baehman each scored as the Pointers maintained a 58-51 lead at the midpoint for the fourth.  The Pointers hit 5-of-8 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Green Knights.
 
The Pointers return home on Thursday (Dec. 20) to face Carthage in the final home non-conference game the season.  Tip-off in Berg Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
