STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 7 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (6-1) closed the first half on a 34-11 run and began the second half with 11-straight points to blow past visiting Ripon (4-4) on Wednesday by a 71-49 final.

Brett Tauber (Madison, Wis./Memorial) recorded his second double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Fellow senior
Nate Dodge (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) led all players with 24 points.
Drew Fredrickson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) was also in double figures with 11 points. He dished out a team-high five assists to add to his team-lead in the category.
Ripon took the opening tip-off in for a layup and raced out to a 13-4 lead. Dodge buried a three at the 16:05 mark to set off the big rally. Fredrickson followed suit with a triple and a
Koko Songolo (Madison, Wis./Memorial) shot from deep pulled UWSP within 17-15.
Dodge scored nine-straight points as the Pointers took the lead at 24-19. Back-to-back buckets by Tauber and a made shot by
Canon O'Heron (Bangor, Wis./Bangor) push the lead to double-digits at 30-19. Consecutive three-pointers by Fredrickson and Dodge blew the lid off as UWSP held a 38-24 advantage at the half.
Fredrickson and Dodge each hit again from behind the arc as UWSP opened the second half on an 11-0 run.
Matt Koerner (West Bend, Wis./West) added a three and O'Heron extended the lead to 28 near the midway point of the second half.
Aaron Knez (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chippewa Falls) added his first three-pointer of the year as UWSP cruised to the win.
The Pointers head to Minnesota on Saturday (Dec. 15) to face St. Thomas in non-conference action. Tip-off in St. Paul is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
