OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (16-9, 3-1) returned to conference play on Wednesday and swept UW-Oshkosh (10-12, 0-4) on its home floor.

April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) led all players with 22 kills and recorded another double-double with a team-high 17 digs.  She also had two blocks, one assist and an ace.

Ellie Adams (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) recorded a match-high 47 assists.  Lisa Bedessem (Burlington, Wis./Sauk Prairie), Emma Peterson (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) and Ali Zamzow (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) all racked up double-digit digs with 11, 14 and 12, respectively.

Gehl opened the match with a trio of early kills, but UWSP and UWO battled back-and-forth in the first set.  Kills by Maddie Lawson (West Allis, Wis./Nathan Hale), Tara Emme (St. Nazianz, Wis./Valders) and Ellie Adams (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) accounted for a 5-11 run that gave the Pointers a 20-17 lead.  Gehl closed out the set with her seventh kill of the match.

Lawson had two kills and an ace as UWSP erased a 7-3 deficit to tie the second set at 10-10.  Emme knocked down four kills as UWSP overtook the lead and sealed the set victory.

Lawson and Gehl combined for four early kills as UWSP opened a 7-4 edge in the third set.  Hailey Jarr (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer), Rachel Hein (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and Gehl recorded consecutive kills as the Pointers surged to a 16-10 lead.  Five late kills by Gehl secured the straight-sets win for UWSP.
