PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (8-9, 2-4) got off to a blistering 8-0 start and never looked back in a 83-61 win a t UW-Platteville (5-12, 1-5) on Saturday.
Sophomore
Carly Cerrato (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) led UWSP with career-highs of 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals. She was 5-of-7 from three-point range and 7-for-11 overall from the field.
Senior
Lexi Roland (New London, Wis./New London) added 16 points with fellow senior
Taylor Barrett (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) and freshman
Brooke Geier (Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee) chipping in 10 points apiece.

Ashley Leiterman (Morrison, Wis./Denmark) combined to give UWSP an 8-0 lead out of the gate. Cerrato got on the board with back-to-back three and
Lexi Roland (New London, Wis./New London) closed out the first quarter with a triple for a 27-11 UWSP lead.
Cerrato opened the second quarter with a three and combined with
Lexi Roland (New London, Wis./New London) for UWSP's first eight points of the quarter to open a 19-point lead. Cerrato added five more points in the quarter to give the Pointers a 48-25 advantage at the half.
Another three by Cerrato pushed the lead to 28 early in the third. Leiterman completed an and-1 in the final minute to cap a free-throw filled stanza.
Midway through the fourth quarter,
Olivia Pawlak (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) hit both free throws to give the Pointers a 30-point lead, the largest of the game. Then with just over a minute to go,
Caitlin Broberg (Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake) hit her first career three-pointers to close out the scoring.
The Pointers return to Berg Gym on Wednesday (Jan. 24) against UW-Oshkosh. The game against the Titans will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. and feature the annual MADA Gold Rush Shootout at halftime for a $500 cash prize. Plus, the first 100 fans receive a free t-shirt.
