Men's Hockey Erases Two-Goal Deficit, Defeats UWRF 3-2

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 3/4 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team erased a two-goal deficit to defeat UW-River Falls, 3-2, in WIAC play on Saturday night at K.B. Willett Arena.
 
Down a pair of goals to UW-River Falls (6-12-2, 0-4-0 WIAC) in the first period, Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK/) buried a goal in the slot on the man advantage to get the Pointers (15-4-3, 3-0-1 WIAC) on the scoreboard at the 14:53 mark of the opening period.
 
In the second period, sophomore forward Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, NJ/) toe-dragged past the Falcons defense burying a back-handed shot over the shoulder of UWRF goaltender Zach Quinn to even the game at 2-2 midway through the period.
 
With less than three minutes to play in the second period, Colin Raver (Bartlett, IL/) scored the game-winning goal. Karty and Nathan Harris (Fowlerville, MI/) picked up assists on the play.
 
UWSP was able to ward off the Falcons while skating with an extra attacker for the final 48 seconds.
 
Thomas Clayton and Eddie Matsushima tallied goals in the span of 3:22 to give UWRF an early 2-0 lead before the Pointers three-goal swing.
 
Senior goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI/) made 18 saves in the victory for UWSP.
 
UWSP returns to action on Friday, Feb. 2 hosting UW-Stout before a trip to UW-Superior the following evening (Feb. 3).
