In the first period, Cornellier got UW-Stevens Point (15-4-3, 4-1 WIAC) off to a fast start, setting up Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas) for his eighth goal of the season 7:03 into the opening frame to give the Pointers a 1-0 lead over UW-Stout (10-11-2, 2-4-0 WIAC)
