OSHKOSH, Wis. – Junior
Zack Goedeke (Valders, Wis./Valders) threw down a dunk with 1:17 remaining to put the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (10-9, 4-5) up four and the Pointers averted a last gasp attempt by UW-Oshkosh (12-8, 5-4) for a 69-68 win on the WIAC road on Wednesday night.
Goedeke led a quartet of UWSP players in double figures with 19 points. Sophomores
Ethan Bublitz (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and

The Titans ran out to a 14-4 lead with Goedeke scoring all four of UWSP's early points. Nelson scored five-straight points near the midpoint of the first half, but the deficit remained at seven.
UWSP went on a 13-6 run aided by seven points from Bublitz to pull even at 24-24 with 6:31 left in the half.
Drew Fredrickson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) and Goedeke accounted for all 12 UWSP points the remainder of the period as the Pointers held a 36-31 lead at the half.
Williams and Bublitz hit back-to-back threes early in the second half and Bublitz completed an and-one to give the Pointers their largest lead at 11 less than four minutes in. Williams hit another triple just before the midpoint of the half as the lead remained at 10.
UWO used an 11-4 run to cut the UWSP lead to three with 5:17 remaining. Goedeke and Nelson hit on three-straight offensive trips, but the Titans hit a pair of threes to keep the spread at three. Then Goedeke's dunk at 1:17 gave UWSP a four-point lead. UWO hit a three in the final minute, but missed its last two as the Pointers survived.
UWSP travels to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. tilt with the Blugolds. The Pointers return home on Wednesday (Feb. 8) against UW-Whitewater at 7:00 p.m. on Bennett Court.
