Sophomroe
Carly Cerrato (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) led all players with 13 points. Freshman
Kellan Schmidt (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) was 5-for-5 from the field and poured in 10 points in her collegiate debut.
Senior
Mickey Roland (New London, Wis./New London) led the Pointers with eight rebounds. She added six points and three assists. Freshman
Ashley Leiterman (Morrison, Wis./Denmark) pulled down six boards, a team-high five on the offensive glass.
Seniors
Taylor Barrett (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) and
Lexi Roland (New London, Wis./New London) accounted for UWSP's first five points of the game for a 5-0 lead. The Pointers' three seniors scored the first 13 points of the season for UWSP for a 13-2 advantage. Leiterman and Schmidt each scored their first collegiate points as the Pointers ended the first quarter up 27-9.
Olivia Pawlak (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) scored a bucket to snap a five-plus minute offensive drought for the Pointers to begin the second quarter. That basket sparked an 8-2 run to end the half with the Pointers ahead 35-17 at the break.
Midway through the third quarter, freshman
Brooke Geier (Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee) recorded her college points as the lead grew back to 20. Cerrato scored three points from the charity stripe down the stretch, equaling Alverno's point total over the final four minute of the period.
Freshmen
Bailee Collins (Milton, Wis./Milton) and
Erin Moran (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) scored their first baskets as a Pointer in the fourth quarter as the Pointers pulled away for the 32-point win.
UWSP heads to Dubuque, Iowa for the Fidelity Bank & Trust Tip-Off Classic and will face Simpson College at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
