STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (6-5-0) controlled a majority of play early, but suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to visiting Augustana College (6-4-0) in non-conference action on Wednesday.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half as UWSP out-shot the Vikings, 8-2. Freshman
Gracie Wendels (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Assumption) hit the post in the final minute of the first half, the Pointers' best scoring chance in the first 45.
Augustana came out with early pressure in the second half and rang one off the crossbar in the second minute of the period.

Francesca Hamilton (Milwaukee, Wis./St. Thomas More) rose above the rest of the field to head in her ninth of the year. Hamilton's goal in the 77th minute came off a corner kick by
Nora Hargett (Columbia, Mo./Hickman), team-lead-tying fourth assist of the season.
Just minutes later, the Vikings answered. A cross along the end line was flicked in at the near post to knot the match at 1-1 in the 79th minute.
As the match headed to overtime, the Pointers had the first shot on net coming off the foot of Hargett in the 92nd minute. Play headed to the other end where AC its second corner of overtime. The Vikings converted the set piece for the game-winner in the 97th minute.
Sophomore
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) led UWSP with four of the Pointers' 13 shots in the match. Wendels had three shots for the Pointers.
UWSP will return to conference play on Saturday (Oct. 7) and UW-Stout. Pointers and Blue Devils kick off at 2:00 p.m. in Menomonie, Wis.
