Men's Hockey Falls 4-2 at UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis.-UW-River Falls used a pair of power-play goals to defeat the fourth-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team 4-2 Saturday night at Hunt Arena. 
 
Midway through the first period, UW-River Falls (9-10-1) tallied the Falcons first power-play goal of the game to take a one-goal lead over UW-Stevens Point (13-4-3).
 
Just 4:30 later sophomore forward B.J. Duffin (Red Deer, AB) tallied his first goal of the season to tie the game at one off assists by Omar Mullan (Dearborn, MI) and Stephan Beauvais (Shelby Township, MI).
 
With less than a minute to play in the opening period, Blake Anderson scored a power-play goal for the Falcons to take a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.
 
At the 10:47 mark of the middle frame, Taylor Burden extended UWRF's lead, scoring off an assist by Michael Lant.
 
With the Pointers on the power-play, Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas) tallied his seventh goal of the season to pull UWSP within one entering the final period of play.
 
UW-River Falls' Mike Fazio scored 1:30 into the third to put the Falcons up 4-2. The Pointers were able to find the back of the net with goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) pulled for 59 seconds in the final two minutes of the game.
 
UW-Stevens Point out-shot UW-River Falls 32-22. Milosek made 18 saves for UWSP, while Zach Quinn made 30 for UWRF.
 
The Pointers will return to action on Tuesday Jan. 24 with a midweek trip to UW-Superior. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 at Wessman Arena.
