RIVER FOREST, Ill. – In the first of a pair of weekend matches in Illinois, the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (0-5-0) were unable to overcome an early deficit in a 2-0 loss at Concordia University Chicago (2-1-1) on Saturday.
The home side dominated the first 30 minutes of the match earning four corner kicks and taking a lead in the 10th minute of play. Sophomore Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) was able to put a shot on goal in the seventh minute and freshman Amanda Maestas (Plano, TX/Plano Senior High) headed a shot wide in the 27th minute to give the Pointers a bit of offensive momentum.
The Cougars doubled their lead in the 61st minute.
Bohnert added a second shot on goal in the 62nd minute as she led the Pointers in the category. Freshman Kassidy Spees (Nekoosa, WI) also had a pair of shots for UWSP with one on net.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) made seven saves to keep the Pointers close.
UWSP continues a five-match raod trip on Sunday at Illinois Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m.
