STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (0-1-0) played short-handed in its home opener and suffered a 3-0 defeat to visiting St. Thomas (1-0-0) on Thursday afternoon at Point Soccer Bowl. Head coach

Sophomore
Dani Ganser (Wauwatosa, WI/Wauwatosa West) fired the Pointers' lone shot of the match in the 15
th minute, but it sailed wide. Later in the half, freshman
Reilly Louko (Oakfield, WI/North Fond du Lac) had a break-away attempt, but the UST defense converged to tackle her at the top of the 18-yard box.
In the second half, the Pointers defense intensified. Despite being down to 10 players at two different times, UWSP allowed just a single second-half goal against. Sophomore transfer
Olivia Mecham (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) played all 90 minutes in net and made eight saves. She also got help from the woodwork as St. Thomas hit both the post and the cross bar in the match.
