STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The No. 19 UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team closed out the regular season on a high note Saturday, securing a 70-47 win over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foe UW-La Crosse on Senior Day at Berg Gymnasium.
Box ScoreUW-Stevens Point battled the first half to gain a 32-24 lead over the Eagles.
The Pointers continued to build an advantage, never gave back the lead once starting the second half.
UWSP extended its lead in the third while holding the Eagles to only 12 points that period.
The Pointers continued the stretch out-rebounding UW-La Crosse 34-23 and forcing 19 turnovers.
UW-Stevens Point had three players score in double figures on the afternoon.
Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) led all scorers with 15 points,
Joann Wolfenberg (Adell, WI/Plymouth Comprehensive) had 14 points and
Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) contributed 10 points in the Pointer victory.
Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London) put up eight points and had six rebounds for UW-Stevens Point. The team also shot 20-for-28 from the free throw line.
Jenna Anderson and MaKenzie Miller both put up 10 points for UW-La Crosse.
The Pointers will host UW-Stout in the first round of the 2016 WIAC Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Berg Gymnasium.Â
