STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Sophomore
Drew Fredrickson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb)'s three-pointer at the buzzer hit iron and rimmed out as the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (6-4) fell to visiting Augustana College (9-3) in the final non-conference game of the year, 78-76, on Saturday.

Brett Tauber (Madison, Wis./Memorial) led all players in scoring with a career-high 19 points. Senior
Aaron Retzlaff (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) also posted a career-high with 10 points. Sophomore
Ethan Bublitz (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) extended his streak of double-figure scoring games to 12-straight with 18 points versus the Vikings.
Bryce Williams (Maple Grove, Minn./Spring Lake Park) added 15 points, tying a season-high.
Bublitz and Retzlaff made the first two baskets of the game to put UWSP up 4-0 early.
MJ Delmore (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) nailed a three-pointer three minutes in as the Pointers held a 10-6 edge. A minute later, Tauber hit from beyond the arc as the lead grew to five.
Midway through the first half, Fredrickson drilled a three as the Pointers regained the lead, 20-18. Later in the half, Bublitz had a breakaway dunk to cap a personal 5-0 run and put UWSP up by eight. Then in the final minute of the half, Williams and Fredrickson hit from deep, but the lead was only two points at the half.
Bublitz scored five of the Pointers' first seven points of the second half, but Augustana stayed close early. A little over four minutes in, Delmore buried a three and Retzlaff scored to give UWSP its largest lead at nine points.
Tauber continued to score down low, adding five points through the middle of the half. The Vikings put together an 8-3 run to knot the game at 72-72 with just under six to play. After a pair of AC free throws, Tauber again scored to tie the game. The teams traded free throws as the game remained tied at 76-76.
Then with 2:48 remaining, the Vikings scored the go-ahead basket and neither team scored the remainder of the game.
UWSP will wrap up a four-game home stand when the Pointers open conference play against preseason favorite UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Jan. 4) at 7:00 p.m.
