WHEATON, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team earned 817 points, earning a second-place finish at the Wheaton Invitational. The women took a fifth place finish, with a score of 290.

The men started scoring in the 200-yard free style with a relay team of
Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West),
Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Michael Academy),
Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West), and
Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah). The group swam a school-record time of 1:20.34, the fastest time in NCAA DIII this year, to win by three seconds.
The 200-yard medley team, which consisted of Jekel, Englehardt, Richardson and Donnellan, finished first with a time of 1:29.97, the group's second NCAA qualifying time of the meet.
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis.) swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM and 200-yard butterfly. Aegerter improved his finals time by one second and was .82 seconds from a first-place finish. In the butterfly, .49 seconds separated Aegerter from the first place finish.
Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West) swam to a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. Englehardt won a first-place finish in the preliminaries. Later into the meet, Englehart won the 50 yard-freestyle in 20.2 seconds, which was an NCAA qualifying time.
Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West) with his contribution to the 200-yard freestyle, also won the 100-yard freestyle. Jekel improved his qualifying time by .37. Jekel later on went to win the 100-fly and 100-yard freestyle and had NCAA qualifying times.
The men 400-yard team of
Ethan Bott (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), Englehardt,
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn.), and Jekel swam for a first-place finish with a time of 3:24. The team improved by 1 second.
Senior
Bree Parent (Mt. Horeb, Wis.) was the top female performer in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke. Parent took a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard with a time in 1:06. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Parent swam to a second-place finish with a time of 2:25.
The women's 400-yard medley relay team of
Bridget Flesher (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), Katelyn Homeyer,
Natalie Schmitt (Madison, Wis./Memorial ), and
Murron Roff (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) swam a ninth-place finish. The team timed in at 4:23.
The women's 200-yard medley team of Missy Angove, Homeyer,
Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School), and
Kassie Yeazel (Whitewater, Wis.) earned an eighth-place finish. The team swam a time of 1:55 with eight seconds away from first place.
Both Homeyer and Perkins provided the Pointers with solid swims throughout the meet.
The Pointers return home to the Aquatic Center on December 9 for a dual against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The meet is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
