UWSP Men Victorious, Women with Solid Performance in Minnesota

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Saint Peter and Mankato, Minn., on Saturday for competitions against Gustavus Adolphus and Minnesota-Mankato.

The men won a dual against the Gusties with a total score of 187, a 74-point difference in the victory.  The women finished third in the tri-dual with a score of 588.  

In the men's competition, the combo of Ethan Bott (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West), Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West) and Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) captured the 200-yard medley relay for UWSP.  The Pointers also won the 200-yard freestyle medley relay behind Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn.), Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Michael Academy), Garrett Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) and Riley Patton (Madison, Wis./Memorial).

Garrett Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East) and Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis.) finished 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle, separated by less than half a second.  Bott added wins in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke.   Aegerter won the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM.  Englehardt, Donnellan and Andrew King (Palatine, Ill.) captured the top spots in the 50-yard freestyle.  Jekel captured the title in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while Austin Teunissen (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) took top honors in the 500-yard freestyle.

On the women's side, Jackie Braun (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) won the three-meter diving event with 242.70.  Also, a trio of Pointers, Angie D'Oronzo, Katy Walker-Daniels, and Jessica Posch took the fifth, sixth, and seventh place, respectively, in the three-meter diving event.  Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School) finished third for UWSP in the 200-yard IM.  Katelyn Homeyer and Bree Parent (Mt. Horeb, Wis.) placed in the top-5 in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events.

The Pointers are set to compete back at home against Northern Michigan University on Saturday, November 12 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
