OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (21-5, 2-3) battled to a four-set loss at UW-Oshkosh (21-5, 3-2) in a matchup of top-25 teams in WIAC play on Wednesday night. The host Titans prevailed in a 26-24 first set and jumped out to a two set lead before the Pointers took the third set, 25-22. UW-Oshkosh rattled off five late points in the fourth set to take the match, 25-21.
Sophomore
Brittany Laffin (Carpentersville, IL/Hampshire) pocketed her second double-double of the year with 18 assists and 10 digs. Laffin and freshman
Abby Majercik (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) each had 18 assists in the match.
Senior
Gabby Thomas (Henderson, MN/LeSueur-Henderson) led a trio of Pointers with double-digit kills. Thomas landed 15 kills while fellow senior
Kelly Cefalu (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) and junior
Bella Nelson (Luck, WI/Luck) added 12 each on the attack.
Bri Piepenbrok (Merrill, WI/Merrill) continued her string of double-digit digs with 15 in the match. The senior had recorded double-digit digs in every match this season.

Kelly Magliano (Chicago, IL/Mount Assisi Academy) had five blocks apiece. Freshman
Rachel Hein (Muskego, WI/Muskego) added for blocks for UWSP.
The Pointers head to Whitewater this weekend for three matches at the Dig Panici Classic. UWSP will face Carthage on Friday before taking on Elmhurst and Loras on Saturday. The Pointers host Concordia (Wis.) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. on Senor Night, the final home regular season match.
