Bobby Gregorich (Plover, WI/SPASH) had two hits in each game as the No. 7 UW-Stevens Point baseball team lost game one 4-3 and won game two 7-4 in a doubleheader split against UW-Stout on Friday afternoon at University Field.
UW-Stout 4, No. 7 UW-Stevens Point 3 | Box UW-Stout (11-5, 1-3 WIAC) broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth on a run-scoring single by Josh Halling to defeat UW-Stevens Point (12-4, 3-1 WIAC) for the first time in 13 games. Hayden Bowe went the distance on the mound for the Blue Devils, holding the Pointers to three runs on nine hits.
UW-Stevens Point overcame a 3-0 deficit with a three-run seventh. With runners on first and second and one out, a single by Gregorich loaded the bases and
Kyle McHugh (Polonia, WI/Rosholt) followed with a two-run double down the left field line.
Cody Hanke (Marathon, WI/Marathon) plated the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly.
The Blue Devils had built the 3-0 lead with single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings.
Kody McHugh (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) made the start for UWSP but had a no-decision after allowing two runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings.

Cole Erickson (Deerfield, WI/Deerfield) improved to 3-0 in three collegiate starts. Erickson limited UW-Stout to one earned run in five innings of work and the bullpen made the lead hold up.
The Pointers tallied five hits in the big third inning.
Peter Strommen (Madison, WI/East),
Ray Greco (Downers Grove, IL/North) and
Ben Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) loaded the bases with three consecutive singles to start the inning. Gregorich's two-run double was the big hit of the inning and McHugh added an RBI single to left.
Gregorich added a solo home run to center in the fifth, his second of the season, in the fifth as part of a 2-for-4 game that included two runs and three RBI. McHugh, Greco and Gerber each had two hits, as McHugh stretched his hitting streak to 15 games.
UW-Stout cut the lead in half in the sixth, scoring three runs on four hits and two errors but left the bases loaded.
Alex Thompson (Tomah, WI/Tomah) tossed three innings of scoreless relief and
Heinrich Walder (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) shut the door for his third save of the season.
UW-Stevens Point travels to UW-La Crosse to face the Eagles on Tuesday, April 7 in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m.
