WHEATON, Ill. –
Ethan Bott (Whitefish Bay, WI) and
Sam Jekel (Madison, WI) each posted individual runner-up finishes as the UW-Stevens Point men's swimming & diving team finished second at the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Results Bott placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.05), while Jekel was second in the 100-yard butterfly with a NCAA consideration time of 49.32 seconds. Bott also finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (52.64), while Jekel came in third in the 100-yard freestyle (46.07).
UW-Stevens Point also had a pair of relays finish as the runners-up.
Kyle McNair (Lake Zurich, IL),
Jack Englehardt (Madison, WI), Jekel and
Andrew King (Palatine, IL) were second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:32.79), while King, Jekel, McNair and
Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, MN) did so in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:06.55).
King swam to a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.09).
Joe Hollman (Geneva, IL) was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.59).
As a team, UW-Stevens Point earned 683.5 points to finish second to Washington University in St. Louis' total of 1,151 points. The Pointers were just ahead of third-place Wheaton, which totaled 651.1 points.
The meet was UW-Stevens Point's last of this calendar year. The Pointers will take a winter training trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico in January before hosting the Point Invite on Jan. 22-23.
