MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point football team overcame a 27-10 deficit to take a 31-27 lead but UW-Stout scored the game-winning touchdown with 25 seconds remaining as the Pointers fell 34-31 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

DeJuan Wright (St. Petersburg, FL/Keswick Christian) with 2:17 to play. However, UW-Stout (3-6, 2-4 WIAC) responded with a five-play, 80-yard drive capped by a two-yard touchdown from Hank Kujak to Reggie Kujak with 25 seconds to go.
The Pointers got the ball back with 18 seconds on the clock and used pass plays of 16 and 23 yards from
Kyle Larson (Clayton, WI/Clayton) to
Logan Taylor (Wausau, WI/East) to get to the Blue Devils' 39-yard line. With two seconds remaining, UW-Stevens Point attempted a 56-yard field goal to tie the score but it fell short.
Down by 17 points late in the third quarter, UW-Stevens Point started its comeback with a six-yard touchdown pass from Larson to
Matt Sosinsky (Princeton, WI/Princeton). The Pointers then scored two touchdowns in 4:27 to take a three-point lead.
Cooper Kerner (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) found
Jared Pankow (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) from three yards out to cap a 13-play, 80-yard drive and Wright then found the endzone for the second time in the game.
Wright ran the ball 21 times for 119 yards in the game and his two touchdowns matched his career-high. The senior's big day was part of a strong rushing performance by the Pointers, who ran for 223 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry.
Larson was 21-for-36 for 253 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the loss and Kerner was 2-for-3 for eight yards and a score. Pankow had a career-high 10 receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown, while Taylor led the team with 94 yards on six catches. Sosinsky caught six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Hank Kujak completed 16-of-31 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns for UW-Stout. Brian Alvarez had a game-high 144 yards on five receptions, including a 73-yard catch to set up the winning touchdown. Reggie Kujak caught a pair of touchdowns and Jordan Dabney caught a 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
UW-Stevens Point took an early 7-0 lead on a four-yard run by Wright with 12:20 left in the first quarter before UW-Stout scored the next three touchdowns to go up 21-7. The Blue Devils led 21-10 at the half.
In a game that featured 996 yards of total offense, UW-Stout outgained UW-Stevens Point 512-484. The Pointers controlled the ball for 36:40, were 8-for-14 on third down and generated 30 first downs in the loss.
UW-Stevens Point closes its season against UW-River Falls on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at Community Stadium at Goerke Park for Senior Day.
