STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Alex Richard (Spring Green, WI/River Valley) hit a game-winning, half-court three-pointer to give the No. 15 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team a 69-66 overtime victory over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foe UW-Oshkosh on Alumni Day on Saturday night at Bennett Court at Quandt Fieldhouse.

Photo GalleryFollowing a missed layup by UW-Oshkosh (11-7, 5-4 WIAC), Richard grabbed a defensive rebound, dribbled to half-court and swished a half-court shot to seal the win for UW-Stevens Point (14-4, 8-1 WIAC). The three-pointer was Richard's third three-pointer of the season and the sixth of his career.
The victory was the 14th consecutive UWSP win in the series, dating back to 2009. The Pointers have won seven-straight home games in the series, as the Titans' last win in Stevens Point is Jan. 5, 2008.
Early in overtime, AJ Mueller drilled a three-pointer to give UW-Oshkosh a three-point lead, as part of his game-high 19 points. The Pointers then claimed a one-point advantage on layups by
Joe Ritchay (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) and Richard but two free throws by Mueller swung the lead back to the visitors.
Austin Ryf (Winneconne, WI/Winneconne) then hit his third three-pointer of the game, making the score 66-64 UWSP. UWO's Alex Olson tied the score at 66-66 with a layup with 50 seconds remaining, setting up Richard's heroics. The teams combined for 10 ties and 13 lead changes in the game.
UW-Oshkosh held a three-point lead with 1:44 left in regulation but Richard and Ritchay combined to hit three free throws in a 31-second span. Both teams had shots to win in the final 15 seconds of regulation but neither fell.
The Titans held the largest lead of the game for either team, leading 39-32 with 14:32 remaining in the second half before the Pointers went on a 17-7 run to take a 49-46 lead with just under eight minutes to go.
UW-Oshkosh led for 17:44 in the first half and led by as many as six. The Titans shot 58.8 percent in the opening half, including 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from behind the arc. However, UWSP forced nine turnovers in the first half to stay within four at the break.
Ryf led four Pointers' players in double figures with 18 points on 7-for-11 from the field.
Jordan Lutz (Amherst, WI/Amherst) added 16 points, while Ritchay and Richard finished with 14 each. The four seniors combined to score 62 of UWSP's 69 points in the game.
In addition to Mueller's game-high 19, Alex Olson was the only Titan in double figures, finishing with 10. Nine players scored for UW-Oshkosh, which shot 57.5 percent from the floor in the game.
UW-Stevens Point shot 45.1 percent in the contest, including 4-for-7 (57.1 percent) in overtime. Both teams made seven threes and shot at least 50.0 percent from behind the arc, while also shooting over 81 percent from the charity stripe.
The Pointers travel to UW-La Crosse for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
