Everest) scored 14 points and Kaitlyn Jacobs (New Franken, WI/Green Bay Preble) posted her third double-double of the season, adding 11 points and 13 rebounds, but the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team shot a season-low 30.8 percent on Wednesday evening, falling on the road to the Eagles of UW-La Crosse, 59-54.

Box Score

With the score tied at 46-46 with 4:09 remaining, UW-La Crosse used a 7-2 burst to build a five-point advantage, from which the Pointers could not recover, coming no closer than two in the game's final minutes.

The Pointers jumped out to an early lead, but the Eagles stayed close, never allowing UWSP to build more than a three-point advantage in the opening stanza. After four ties and four lead changes, the Pointers took the lead into the halftime break, leading 23-20.

UWSP opened the second half on a 7-2 run, building its largest lead of the game, eight, with 17:04 remaining. Anklam capped the spurt with a three-pointer and the Pointers' defense forced a pair of turnovers during the run.

From there, the Eagles came back to tie the game for the fifth time on the evening, leveling the score at 32-32 with 14:09 to go. Later, UWL built a 42-38 lead before Anklam scored the game's next six points to give UWSP a 44-42 lead with 7:04 to play, but that was the final lead of the night for the visitors.

Anklam shot 3-for-7 from behind the arc and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line for her third double-figure scoring performance in the last four games. The Pointers outscored the Eagles 16-1 in second-chance points thanks to 15 offensive rebounds and also held a 20-8 advantage in bench points.

Elise DeNoyer led UW-La Crosse with a career-high 19 points on 5-for-11 from the field and 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. She also added seven rebounds and four assists. Jenna Anderson pitched in with 12 points, while MaKenzie Miller had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.

UWL shot 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from the floor in the second half after shooting just 25.9 percent (7-for-27) in the opening half. The Eagles capitalized on their trips to the free-throw line, going 16-for-20 in the second half and 22-for-28 in the game.
