STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team held off a late charge by UW-Stout to pick up a 64-51 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) victory on Wednesday evening at Berg Gym.

Kaitlyn Jacobs (New Franken, WI/Green Bay Preble) led UW-Stevens Point with 13 points and 15 rebounds, four more than her previous career high. The double-double was the second of the senior's career. The other double-double came against the Blue Devils at home on Jan. 8, 2014.
Allie Miceli (Marseilles, IL/Ottawa Township) added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London) scored all 10 of her points in the opening half, while Atkinson eclipsed her previous career high of six points. Atkinson's eight made free throws were five more than she had made in any previous game.
UW-Stevens Point stretched an eight-point halftime lead to 16 by holding UW-Stout scoreless for a span of 5:04 in the second half. The Pointers held the Blue Devils to 0-for-7 shooting during the five-minute stretch to go up 48-32.
UW-Stout got within four with 2:01 remaining after a three-point play by Kyleigh Hebert and a three-pointer by Sarah Schoch in a 43-second span. UW-Stevens Point made nine of its first 17 free throws in the second half before making its final eight.
Jenna Goldsmith led UW-Stout with 12 points on 6-for-9 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Katelynne Folkers was just shy of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Pointers shot 46.9 percent in the opening half and closed the half on a 20-4 run over the last 7:11 to take a 33-25 lead into the break. The Blue Devils led for 16:54 of the first half.
UW-Stevens Point outscored UW-Stout 11-2 in second-chance points in both halves and 27-8 in bench points in the game. UWSP shot 37.3 percent from the floor in the game, compared to 34.4 percent for UW-Stout. The Blue Devils connected on just 6-of-24 attempts from behind the arc.
The win was UW-Stevens Point's ninth in the last 10 meetings with UW-Stout.
The Pointers host No. 22 St. Norbert on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Berg Gym.
