STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Kaitlyn Jacobs (New Franken, WI/Green Bay Preble) scored a career-high 17 points, collected a team-leading eight rebounds and dished out a career-best seven assists to lead the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team to a 67-52 nonconference victory over the Muskies of Lakeland College Tuesday evening.
Box ScoreThe Pointers went in front 4-3 just over two minutes into the game and never relinquished their lead, building a 16-point edge with 5:33 remaining in the opening half.
The Muskies cut their deficit to single digits late in the first half, but a three-point basket by
Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) gave the Pointers the 11-point halftime edge.
In the second half, Lakeland was able to cut the Pointers' lead to single digits three times, but UWSP had an answer each time, building its largest lead of the game, 18 points, with just over 6:21 remaining.
Jacobs was 8-for-10 from the floor on the night, while
Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London) was the only other player in double figures for the Pointers, scoring 11 off the bench.
Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) finished with eight points and
Joann Wolfenberg (Adell, WI/Plymouth Comprehensive) and
Allie Miceli (Marseilles, IL/Ottawa Township) tallied seven each.
Bailey Grayvold led the Muskies with 15 points on the evening.
UW-Stevens Point (3-2) returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 30 with a contest at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minn. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Schoenecker Arena.
