STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Addy Maher scored the only goal of the game in the first half to give visiting UW-Stout a 1-0 win over the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at the Point Soccer Bowl.
Box ScoreMaher's goal, her first of the season, came at the 34:19 mark of the first half for UW-Stout (5-9-3, 3-4-1 WIAC). With the win, the Blue Devils clinched the final spot in the upcoming Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship.
Both teams registered 10 shots on goal in the game. UW-Stout outshot UW-Stevens Point 7-4 in the opening half before UWSP held a 6-3 edge as it pushed for a tying goal.
Paige Meyer made eight saves for the Blue Devils in the shutout, including two in the final five minutes.
Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) recorded four saves for the Pointers.
Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown) had a match-high three shots on goal in the contest and
Mary-Kate Schiffer (Palatine, IL/William Fremd) added two.
UW-Stevesn Point closes the season with a 7-10-1 record, including a 2-5-1 mark in the WIAC.
