EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team opened its season by defeating UW-Eau Claire 230-69 and falling to St. Cloud State 217-83 in a tri-dual meet on Saturday.
Results UW-Stevens Point had three individual event winners in the meet.
Ethan Bott (Whitefish Bay, WI) won both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events with times of 53.74 and 1:58.50, respectively.
Hans Peters was the other individual winner, taking the 200-yard butterfly in 1:59.60. Peters also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.74).
Andrew King (Palatine, IL) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.14), while
Sam Jekel (Madison, WI) was second in the 100-yard butterfly (53.71).
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Peters, Jekel,
Kyle McNair (Lake Zurich, IL) and
Garrett Richetto (Wausau, WI) swam to a second-place finish with a time of 3:14.83.
Matt Parks (West Bend, WI) and
Joe Hollman (Geneva, IL) each recorded third-place finishes. Parks was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:27.87). Hollman took third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.91).
McNair, Hollman, Jekel and King were third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.40.
The Pointers travel to St. Peter, Minn. to swim against Gustavus Adolphus, Minnesota State and St. Cloud State on Saturday, Nov. 8 at noon.
