STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Two of the top teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) took to the pool on Saturday afternoon and it was the Pointer men who came out victorious, posting a hard-fought 141-102 victory over the Eagles of UW-La Crosse.

The UWL women picked up the split on the day for the Eagles, coming out in front of the Pointers 171-72.

The men's 400 medley relay team of
Kyle McNair (Lake Zurich, IL),
Alex Loftus (Janesville, WI),
Sam Jekel (Madison, WI) and
Luuk Dekkers (Ames,IA) posted a first place finish, posting a time of 3:32.36. On the women's side, the quartet of
Amy Boritzke (Brookfield, WI),
Cassie Matthys (Escanaba, MI),
Alexa Pronga (Wisconsin Rapids, WI) and
Gemma Pillsbury (Baraboo, WI) finished third with a time of 4:06.11.
Evan Catani (St. Louis, MO) posted a victory in the 1,000 freestyle, leading a trio of Pointers who finished 1-2-3, posting a time of 10:09.00.
Amanda Walker (Sun Prairie, WI) posted the victory on the women's side, finishing with a time of 10:51.06.
Hans Peters posted the top time in the 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:44.50. For the women,
Gemma Pillsbury (Baraboo, WI) was third with a time of 2:00.53.
Sam Jekel (Madison, WI) posted the win in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.08, leading a group of Pointers who finished 1-2-3 in the event.
On the women's side, Emily Neinhaus had the top UWSP finisher for the women in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.18, leading a group that finished 2-3-4-5 in the event.
Alex Loftus (Janesville, WI) posted the top finish in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 2:00.55. On the women's side, Hailey Kuhnavich was the top UWSP finisher, posting a time of 2:17.24, good for fourth.
In the 200 butterfly,
Justin Fernandez (Chicago, IL) posted a second place finish, posting a time of 2:06.33. Kihnavich was the top women's finisher, coming in fourth with a 2:19.05.
Hans Peters took home the 100 freestyle title, finishing with a time of 48.25.
Amy Boritzke (Brookfield, WI) was second for the women, posting a time of 55.61.
Ethan Bott (Whitefish Bay, WI) finished second in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:02.65. Lindsay Price finished third on the women's side with her time of 2:15.32.
Luuk Dekkers (Ames,IA) took home the top spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:53.59, leading a trio of Pointers at the top of the results sheet.
Amanda Walker (Sun Prairie, WI) took home the women's title in a time of 5:15.37.
The Pointer men finished 1-3-4-5 in the 200 breaststroke, led by
Alex Loftus (Janesville, WI) who finished in a time of 2:12.02.
Bree Parent (Mt. Horeb, WI) was the top Pointers finisher on the women's side, finishing fifth with a time of 2:34.47.
The Pointer men and women came in first in the 400 freestyle relay, as the men's quartet of Hans Peters,

Sam Jekel (Madison, WI) posted a time of 3:12.88 and the women's team of

On the diving boards, the Pointers Angie Doronzo finished fourth in the three meter dive (213.65) and seventh on the one meter board (170.80). On the men's side,
Sean Cloghessy (Munster, IN) was the top finisher on the three meter board, posting a third place finish with a score of 223.60. On the one meter board, Jeff Meyer was fourth with a score of 240.15.
The Pointers have their final tune-up before the conference championships when they head to the Minnesota Challenge Feb. 7-8 in Minneapolis. Action Friday evening begins at 6 p.m.
