STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving team finished second in the Point Invite after two days of competition behind a first-place finish by the men and a third-place finish by the women.

The men finished just ahead of UW-La Crosse with 1,029.5 points, while the women were third with 705 points.
On the men's side, the Pointers picked up one relay win and three individual wins. The relay win came in the 200-yard medley relay as UWSP posted a time of 1:38.30.
Freshman
Justin Fernandez (Chicago, IL/) won the 400-yard IM in 4:18.98. Fellow freshman
Sam Jekel (Madison, WI/) posted a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.13. Junior
Alex Loftus (Janesville, WI/) was the third individual winner for the men with a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.64).
The UW-Stevens Point women won a pair of relays and Katelyn Homeyer won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.43). The relay wins were in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.09) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:37.42).
The UWSP divers took second, as the men finished first with 562 points and the women were fourth with 321 points.
The Pointers travel to La Crosse next weekend for a dual at 1 p.m.
