WHEATON, Ill. – The Pointers qualified three more individuals and two relay teams on the final day of competition at the 2012 Wheaton Invitational.
Saturday Results
The quartet of
Joey Clapp (Faribault, MN/),
Alex Loftus (Janesville, WI/),
Ryan Farmer (Naperville, IL/) and
Eric Emerson (River Falls, WI/) posted a automatic qualifying time in the 200 medley relay, finishing in 1:32.05, posting a second-place finish in the event.
Farmer posted a b-cut time in the championship final of the 100 butterfly, finishing with a 50.40 in the event.
Loftus in the 200 breaststroke posted an NCAA b-cut time, finishing in 2:05.96.
Clapp posted an automatic qualifying time in the 50 free, finishing in a time of 20.35. His time of 20.24 in the finals set a new meet and pool record. He was the only swimmer to break the 21-second mark.
The 400 free relay team of Farmer, Emerson, Clapp, and
Joe Gendron (West Lafayette, IN/) posted a b-cut time of 3:04.54 in the event, finishing over three seconds ahead of the next closest relay team.
The Pointers return home for a rare dual meet on Saturday, Dec. 8 against UW-Whitewater before shutting down competition for finals and winter training.
