STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Theo Maglio (Wautoma, WI/Wautoma) caught a season-high 13 passes for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but the UW-Stevens Point football team fell to UW-Eau Claire Saturday, 17-14.

The Pointers (1-6, 0-4 WIAC) grabbed a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter when quarterback
Mitch Beau (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary Springs) connected with Maglio for a 12-yard touchdown pass.
UWSP took the 7-0 lead into the half, but Joel Sweeney's four-yard touchdown scamper for the Blugold evened the score 7-7 late in the third quarter.
UWEC (3-4, 3-1 WIAC) scored on its first possession of the fourth quarter when quarterback Austin Neu found Austin Goetsch for a 29-yard touchdown pass.
Josh Albrecht's 42-yard field goal with four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter put the Blugold on top 17-7, but the Pointers struck back on their following possession as Maglio caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Beau with 1:46 remaining.
The ensuing onside kick attempt did not travel 10 yards, and UWEC retained possession for the remainder of the game.
Beau finished the game 23-for-39 for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Defensively,
James Sladek (Merrill, WI/Merrill) led the Pointers with 13 tackles (nine solo, four assisted) and a forced fumble, while
Aaron Karlen (Edgar, WI/Edgar) and
Bo Seibel (Kewaskum, WI/Kewaskum) followed with 12 tackles apiece.
Colton Zimmerman (Iola, WI/Iola-Scandinavia) came away with an interception, and
Skylar Stecker (Hilbert, WI/Hilbert) recovered a fumble.
UWSP hosts UW-Whitewater Saturday, Oct. 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
