RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point football team jumped out to an early lead against UW-River Falls Saturday, but the Falcons scored 26 consecutive points en route to handing the Pointers a 26-15 loss.

Adam Vesterfelt (Janesville, WI/Parker) put the Pointers (1-5, 0-3 WIAC) on top 7-0 with a 1-yard rushing touchdown early in the first quarter.
The Falcons (1-5, 1-2 WIAC) immediately tied the game when Robbie Flom returned the ensuing kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.
Kicker Chad Blair connected on four consecutive field goal attempts to put the Falcons on top 19-7.
UWRF increased its lead to 26-7 when Brad Beeskow ran for a 35-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter.
Tim Burmeister (Milwaukee, WI/Lutheran) gave the Pointers their second touchdown when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone late in the fourth quarter.
Cody Nuernberg (Kewauskum, WI/Kewauskum) connected with
Theo Maglio (Wautoma, WI/Wautoma) for the two-point conversion.
Maglio finished with a game-high nine catches for 70 yards and has had at least six catches in five consecutive games.
Aaron Karlen (Edgar, WI/Edgar) led all players with 14 tackles (13 solo, one assisted).
The Pointers return home next Saturday, Oct. 20 when they host UW-Eau Claire for the Homecoming and Hall of Fame Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
