Gilles wrapped his dominant season at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Nationals in Myrtle Beach, S.C., competing in the 800-meter run. In the preliminary round, he logged the second-best time of 1:51.20 in the field and his individual heat, successfully locking up a spot in the finals. In the finals of the 800-meter run, Gilles finished with a time of 1:49.86 to take a close-knit sixth-place finish. He managed to stay close within the pack of runners until the final stretch, finishing 1.21 seconds behind the leader. Gilles earned his second All-America honors in the 800-meter and is the only Pointer to log All-America honors in both indoor and outdoor this season.
