Elyse Nelson, senior (Batavia., Ill / Batavia), batted .417 over the ten games of the Pointer’s annual spring Florida trip.  In the first game of the trip against Trinity Nelson provided the heroics with the game winning two RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning in an eventual 6-4 Pointer win.  The next day Nelson went 2-2 in a tough game against Tufts.  Facing Bowdoin Nelson exploded with a 3-3 performance with six RBI’s.  In the bottom of the second Nelson hit her first homerun of the season, a grand slam, to give the Pointers a commanding lead.  In the fourth inning Nelson continued her hitting with a solo shot to end the game in the fifth inning via ten-run rule.  One the last day of the trip Nelson was 3-5 against Buena Vista College with three singles and three RBI’s and was 2-4 against Williams College with two singles and two RBI’s.  On the season Nelson is batting .391 with a team high 18 RBI’s.
