Griege got her first career win and her first career shutout in the UWSP’s two wins last week. She made 22 saves in the win at Marian on Tuesday, allowing just one goal against. On Sunday, she posted her first career shutout with 15 saves against St. Catherine. Griege went 2-0-0 with 37 saves and a .974 saves percentage for the week.
Other nominees
Carly Thomka (Volleyball)
Thomka hit .362 over UWSP’s three matches last week. She posted nine kills and added five blocks in UWSP’s conference finale at UW-Eau Claire. Then on Saturday, she tied her season high with 13 kills against Saint Benedict, hitting .600 for the match. Thomka had nine more kills in the season finale at St. Olaf.
Kasey Fris (Swimming)
Fris led the way for the Pointers at the Gustavus Adolphus/Minnesota State Mankato Tri-Dual. She logged a third-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:54.72, fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.16 and a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.38.
Jade Herzer (Wrestling)
At the Pointer Open, Herzer went 3-0 with all three wins by tech fall to win the 170 bracket. She was one of two Pointers who won their brackets.
Gabby Dunn (Soccer)
Dunn put the Pointers in front in the first half over UW-Oshkosh in the Women's Soccer WIAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Her unassisted goal in the 42nd minute was her league-leading ninth of the season. She would also add an assist to her night totals as she provided the setup for a 55th minute goal in a 3-1 victory over the Titans.
