Candre posted multiple hits in each of UWSP’s four games last week, batting .600 for the week. She also scored in each game, crossing the plate twice in three of the four games. In the opener of the Blue Angel Invite, Candre drove in two and scored twice. Against Edgewood on Thursday, she ripped two doubles to take sole possession atop the career doubles list and scored twice. On Friday, she again hit a double, drove in two and scored a run against Mount Mary. To wrap up the week, Candre had two more hits, stole a base and scored two more runs versus Augustana. UWSP won all four games. For the week, Candre was 9-for-15 with three doubles, four RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base.

Other Nominees

Ashley Zygowski, Softball
Zygowski continued to dominate in the circle going 2-0 with a save in UWSP’s four wins last week. She tossed the final 3.0 frames with two strikeouts to earn her first career save against Loras in the Blue Angel Invite opener. She got the win in relief later on Thursday with 3.0 shutout innings with six strikeouts and one hit allowed against Edgewood. On Friday, she tied her season high with 10 strikeouts while dealing 5.0 shutout innings of one-hit ball versus Augustana. Zygowski racked up 18 strikeouts in 11.0 innings with a 0.64 ERA for the week. Through the first two weeks of the season, she is seventh in the country in strikeouts.

Rose Ann Marshall, Women's Wrestling
Marshall reached All-American status by advancing to day two of the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships after day one action on Friday. She opened competition with a 10-0 tech fall victory. After moving into the consolation bracket, Marshall earned another tech fall win, 12-2. She continued to advance with 14-7 and 15-7 decision wins. She is guaranteed a top-8 finish at nationals. Already an All-American and guaranteed a top-8 finish, Marshall dropped her first match on Saturday by tech fall putting her in the seventh-place match. There, she prevailed with a 12-0 tech fall win to take seventh place. Marshall ended the season with a 25-10 record after going 5-1 at the NCWWC Championships this weekend.
