University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Athletics

Zygowski lit up opposing hitters to the tune of 25 strikeouts in just 15.0 innings pitched. She was the winning pitcher in both UWSP victories over the weekend. She tossed 5.0 innings of two-hit shutout relief to earn the win over Edgewood with nine strikeouts. She came back on Sunday with 6.0 frames of two-hit shutout relief with 10 strikeouts against Ripon to earn the win. In the weekend finale, Zygowski struck out six more over 4.0 frames of relief against Marian.

Other Nominees
Olivia Schultz, Women's Hockey
Schultz made 38 saves and allowed just one goal on Friday in game one of the WIAC Semifinals. Schultz made 14 saves in the first period as the teams skated to a scoreless tie after one. On Saturday, Schultz made 48 saves to set the school saves record with a total of 2794 career saves. 

Rachel Baker, Softball
Baker led UWSP in hits, total bases, stolen bases and RBI while hitting .500 over UWSP’s four-game opening weekend. In Saturday’s win over Edgewood, Baker hit a solo home run, the only run scored by either team in a 1-0 UWSP victory. In Sunday’s win over Ripon, Baker went 3-for-4 with three RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored.

Chloe Leithold, Women's Tennis
Leithold took the first set at the No. 6 spot, 7-5 in the Pointer first match of the spring season against St. Cate's. In the second set, it came down to yet another tiebreak as Leithold pulled out the win, 7-6 (7-2) to help the Pointers take the match.

Brooke Wellhausen, Women's Track
Wellhausen led the way for the women with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run at the WIAC Championship this past weekend. Her time of 2:13.01 was less than a half second behind the event winner.
