Other Nominees

Bree Downie, Women's Golf

Downie led the Pointers to the team title at the Marian Invite over the weekend, placing second individually.  She shot an opening round 87 and cut four strokes off in the second round (83) to wrap up the tournament with a 10-stroke lead over third place.

Kaylee Woelfel, Women's Tennis (Singles)

Woelfel was the Pointers #6 singles player posting a perfect 2-0 record on the week, posting wins over UW-Stout and Loras College. Woelfel won a competitive match at Stout on Wednesday, winning 6- 4, 7-6 (3), and followed that up with a dominant performance at Loras college winning 6-2, 6-1. Playing in spots 4, 5 and 6, Woelfel is a perfect 8-0 on the season, and a big reason why the Pointers are off to their best start in school history.

Barbara Covek & Jenna Koepp, Women's Tennis (Doubles)

The Pointers #1 doubles duo of Barbara Covek & Jenna Koepp posted a perfect 3-0 record on the week. They opened WIAC play this past Wednesday with an 8- 4 victory at UW-Stout, and followed that up Saturday with wins on the road against the University of Dubuque (8-1) and Loras College (8- 5). The victory over Loras marked the duo’s sixth-consecutive win, improving their overall record to 10 – 1 on the season. They both have been integral parts in helping the Pointers to an 11-0 dual match record, the most wins for the program in the last 23 years.

Emma Peterson,  Volleyball
Peterson recorded double-figure digs in all three matches last week, all-straight-sets wins by UWSP.  She started the week with 11 digs in a win over UW-Platteville in the conference opener.  Then she racked up 17 and 18 against Hamline and Simpson, respectively.  Peterson now has double-digit digs in 11 of the 12 matches this season and in each of the last eight, all UWSP victories.
