Gehl recorded a double-double in all five of the Pointers’ matches last week.  In the first match on Wednesday, she hit .688 with 11 kills and 12 digs against Lawrence.  On Friday, she had a season-high 33 kills and 21 digs as the Pointers rallied to win in five against Minnesota Morris.  That night, she moved into second in school history in kills.  On Saturday, she again had a stellar hitting percentage (.583) with 15 kills and 10 digs in a win over Luther.  Gehl hit .253 with 91 kills, seven assists, 11 service aces, 13 blocks and 75 digs over the five matches.

Maddie Lawson, Volleyball

Lawson tied a season-high with seven blocks against St. Olaf on Saturday, extending her streak to eight-straight matches with at least one block.  She had four blocks over the two matches against St. Norbert and Lawrence in Wednesday’s WIAC/MWC Quad.  She had three more in Friday’s comeback win over Minnesota Morris.  On Saturday, Lawson had 11 blocks over the two matches, including two solo blocks versus St. Olaf.  She also hit .264 with 29 kills, eight service aces and 12 digs on the week.
 

Kaitlyn Hess, Soccer

Hess had four points on the week, including a pair of assists on game-winners.  She had the game-winning assist on Kassidy Spees’ goal in the 1-0 win at Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday.  On Sunday, she converted her second penalty kick of the year to put UWSP in front.  Then later in the match, she assisted on Maddy Hardyman’s game-winning goal with three seconds remaining in regulation at Coe.
 

Miranda Nieman, Soccer
Nieman went 2-0-0 on the week with road victories at Nebraska Wesleyan and Coe.  In Friday’s win at NWU, she made three saves and recorded her second shutout of the season.  With her win at Coe on Sunday, Nieman improved to 4-0-1 of the year.
 

Claire Tomczik, Golf

Tomczik dropped 11 strokes from her first round score and carded an 84 in round two of the Marian Invite on Sunday.  Her score moved her from 17th after the first round to a ninth-place finish in the tournament.  The 84 in round two was her lowest career round at UWSP.
