Smiley went 5-0 at the Budd Whitehill Duals in Williamsport, Pa., to begin 2019 and was named to the all-tournament team. He recorded a fall in just 1:02 against Wesleyan. He also had two decision wins, a major decision victory and won by tech fall. Three of his victories came against top-25 teams as he helped the Pointers to the championship dual and a second-place finish at the 16-team meet.

Stephan Beauvais, men's hockey
Beauvais recorded two goals in the Pointers’ weekend sweep of MIAC opponents, No. 4 Augsburg and Saint John’s (Minn.). On Friday against No. 4 Augsburg, the Pointers’ defense allowed only 16 shots, leading to a 3-1 UWSP win. The following evening, Beauvais scored two goals, including his first career shorthanded goal and an empty-netter in a 4-1 win over Saint John's (Minn.).
Canon O'Heron, men's basketball
O’Heron averaged 21.5 points and seven rebounds a game last week for the No. 9 UWSP men’s basketball team in league play. He poured in 20 points, grabbed four boards and led the team with three assists against No. 5 UWO on Wednesday. On Saturday, he scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as the Pointers pulled away from UWEC. He hauled in 10 rebounds against the Blugolds for his first career double-double.
Caleb Rheinschmidt, men's track & field
Rheinschmidt started his senior season in impressive fashion by winning the 35-pound weight throw at the Pointer Alumni meet with a new personal best of 16.86 meters, almost a full meter better than his best throw coming into the meet. He followed up his weight performance by finishing second in the shot put, also in a new personal best of 14.26 meters.  He currently has the best mark in the conference in the weight, 20th nationally, and the fifth-best mark in the conference in the shot.
Jared Schrang, men's track & field
Schrang ran to a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles at the Pointer Alumni meet winning in a time of 8.47. His mark is the second-best time in the WIAC and 22nd nationally.Â
