Squires earned the Jack Schwartz Award given to the wrestler with the most falls in the least time at the last weekend’s Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational.  Squires won the award with five falls in just 12:56.  He earned third-place at 184 going 6-1 over the two-day event.  His only defeat came to fourth-seed Isaac Odell of Wheaton, which he avenged with a fall in the third-place match.

Other Nominees: 

Canon O'Heron: O’Heron racked up a career-high 26 points in UWSP’s win at UW-La Crosse on Saturday.  He also had five boards, a block and a steal in the road win.  In Wednesday’s game at UW-Oshkosh, he was also UWSP’s leading scorer with 14 points.  He grabbed six rebounds with two assists and two steals against the Titans.

Mickey Roland: Roland scored in double figures in both UWSP games last week.  She had 12 points with four rebounds and an assist against UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday.  Then on Saturday, she chipped in 10 points in the win over UW-La Crosse.  She had seven rebounds, six assists and a steal in the win over the Eagles.

Alex Grubbs: Grubbs had her first multi-point game of the season with a goal and an assist at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday.  She picked up her assist on the first Pointers’ goal of the game to tie the score at 1-1 midway through the first.  Then in the second period, she scored an unassisted goal that put UWSP ahead 3-2.  Earlier in the week, she was part of a stout defense that shut out St. Catherine, the fifth shutout of the season.

Makani Peters: Peters won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.54, the fastest time in the conference this season.

Evan Torgerson: Torgerson won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.23.

Jeremy Lee: Lee racked up 4,890 points in the heptathlon at UW-Whitewater this weekend.  His points total ranks second in the conference and fourth nationally.

Jacob Aegerter: Aegerter won the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly against UW-La Crosse on Saturday.  He edged teammate Grant Moser in the butterfly by less than half a second at 1:59.78.  In the IM, he clocked a 1:59.00 to win by just over a second.  Aegerter also was the second leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.39.

Owen Gluck: Gluck won the one- and three-meter diving events in the dual win over UW-La Crosse on Saturday.  He scored a total of 297.15  in the three-meter event to win by more than 30 points.  In the one-meter event, he won by nearly 25 points at 282.05.

Anna O'Malley: O’Malley won the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle with times of 2:13.36 and 5:28.33, respectively.  She was also part of the second-place 400-yard medley relay making up almost seven seconds on the competition in her third leg of the relay.
