Delmore poured in a season-high 19 points in UWSP’s win at No. 2 UW-Whitewater on Wednesday. Three of his six field goals came from behind the arc. He added three rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win. On Saturday, he scored 15 points in the Pointers’ comeback win over UW-Platteville. Delmore had three more rebounds, three assists and a steal against the Pioneers.
Other Nominees:
Ashley Leiterman: Leiterman had a solid week at both ends of the floor for UWSP last week. She shot .750 from the floor in both games and had five rebounds against UW-Whitewater on Wednesday and five more at UW-Platteville on Saturday. Against the Warhawks, Leiterman dished out six assists, a career-high. She had four dimes at Platteville.
Willem Nong-Lambert: Nong-Lambert racked up four points in UW-Stevens Point’s WIAC weekend sweep. On Friday, Nong-Lambert tallied the game’s opening goal giving the Pointers an early 1-0 lead. In the second period, the senior forward scored a power-play goal, what would prove to be the game-winner in a 5-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire. The following evening, he picked up a pair of assists, including setting up Colin Raver for the game-winning goal in the second period, in the Pointers’ 3-2 win over UW-River Falls.
Brooke Wellhausen: Wellhausen won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.58 at the WIAC Tri in Platteville on Saturday. Her time ranks third in the conference this season and 26th nationally.
Evan Torgerson: Torgerson won the 400-meter dash at the WIAC Tri in Platteville on Saturday. His time of 49.93 ranks first in the conference and sixth in the country.
Zach Jorgenson: Jorgenson won the 400-yard IM on Saturday at the Point Invite with a time of 4:21.26, more than five seconds faster than the runner-up. He also won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.13. On Friday, he finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.91, led than a second behind the winner.
Owen Gluck: Gluck won the three-meter diving event at the Point Invite over the weekend with a score of 502.30. In the one-meter dive, he scored a total of 484.75 to place second.
Anna O'Malley: O’Malley won the 200-yard freestyle at the Point Invite on Saturday with a time of 2:00.23. In Friday’s meet, she finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.63. In the 200-yard butterfly, O’Malley placed second with a time of 2:16.03. She was also part of three UWSP relay teams over the weekend that each finished in the top-4 of each event.
Jackie Braun: Braun won the three-meter dive at the Point Invite with a score of 421.35, nearly 20 points better than the runner-up. In the one-meter diving event, her score of 408.90 was good for third, less than 15 points behind the winner.
