Dodge led the Pointers in scoring in both games of opening week.  He was unconscious from behind the arc, shooting 8-for-10 from three-point range, with a game-high 28 points in UWSP win at Buena Vista Saturday.  His eight three-pointers were more than a third of the Pointers’ record-setting 22 in the game.  Over the first week of the season, he is averaging a team-high 18.0 points per game, has five rebounds and three assists.

Other Nominees:

Taylor Barrett:
Barrett averaged 12.7 points over the three games of opening week to help UWSP get off to a 2-1 start.  The senior poured in a team-high 19 points in the Pointers’ 69-66 win over Simpson on Friday.  She added eight rebounds to narrowly miss a double-double.  Barrett shot .565 from the field on the week and was 12-for-13 from the line.  She totaled 13 rebounds, four assists with a block and a steal.  Barrett was also named to the Fidelity Bank and Trust Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team.

Sydney Richetto: Richetto placed second in the 100-yard freestyle, just 0.19 seconds behind the event winner.  She finished third in the 200-yard freestyle, the highest Pointer finish.  She swam the final, and fastest, leg of the 400-yard medley relay that placed second.  In the 400-yard freestyle relay, she swam the second leg of the runner-up team that was less than two seconds behind the first-place team.

Jackie Braun: Braun swept the top honors in both the one- and three-meter diving events Saturday.  She won the one-meter with a 297.80, more than 50 points better than the runner-up.  In the three-meter dive, she won by 35 points with a score of 275.85.

Sam Jekel: Jekel won a pair of relays and two individual events to lead UWSP to a dominant dual win over UW-Whitewater.  He won the 100-yard backstroke by more than two seconds and edged out a teammate in the 100-yard butterfly to win the event.  Jekel swam the first leg of the 400-yard medley relay that finished at 3:29.19, more than seven seconds ahead of the field.  He also swam the second leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay that won by more than four seconds.

Owen Gluck: Gluck surpassed the 300-point mark in his win of the one-meter diving event on Saturday.  His winning score was 302.95, 35 points higher than the runner-up.  In the three-meter dive, his score of 292.65 was just seven points shy of teammate Evan Plummer for a second-place finish.

Boone Roycraft: Roycraft went 5-1 on the week, including a 7-5 decision against UWW for the Pointers’ lone score of the dual.  At the CUW Open, he had a fall and three decision wins to place fifth at 157.  Roycraft’s lone defeat on the week was a 4-0 decision to reigning National Champion Logan Thomsen of Wartburg.
