Vosters dominated the field en route to the title at 125 in the Pointers Open on Saturday.  He began his day, and the season, with a fall in just 1:40.  In the second round, he defeated UW-Parkside’s Josh Olsen by tech fall, 16-0.  He won by major decision in both the semifinals and finals, outscoring his opponents in the final three matches, 41-6.

Other Nominees:

Evan Plummer: Plummer won the three-meter diving event with a score of 231.03, nearly 20 points better than the runner-up.  He placed third in the one-meter dive with a score of 214.75.

Payton Kilian: Killian won the 200-yard freestyle on Saturday, edging out a quartet of teammates for the win.  He was also the Pointers’ top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing second in the event with a time of 5:03.53.  He also swam to a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and aided the 200-yard freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish.

Erica Perkins: Perkins was the top UWSP finisher in both of her individual events.  She swam a time of 26.38 in the 50-yard freestyle, just .04 seconds behind sixth place.  In the 400-yard IM, she placed fifth with a time of 4:59.63, less than a second off third.  She also helped the 200-yard freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish (1:46.76) and the 200-yard medley relay to a time of 1:56.81 (seventh).

Allison Karrmann: Karrmann netted her first goal of the year at No. 8 St. Thomas on Saturday.  Her goal pulled the Pointers to within 3-2 late in the second period.

Carter Roo: Roo had a breakout game as the Pointers tolled past Bethel on Saturday.  He picked up his first career point with an assist on a power-play goal in the second period.  Then in the third period, he scored a pair of unassisted goals to propel the Pointers to the win.  Roo also led all players with a +2 rating in the game.

Alex Malueg: Malueg made a touchdown-saving tackle on a punt return in the second quarter to keep the game scoreless.  He also landed two of his five punts on the day inside the 20.

Juleyan Givens: Givens forced one of two fumbles that UWSP recovered against UW-River Falls on Saturday.  He also made eight solo tackles with nine total on the game.   Givens also topped the squad with two tackles for loss in the game.

Steve Herra: Herra led all players in receiving yards in Saturday’s game against UW-River Falls.  He had four catches for 92 yards, including a 36-yard catch on the Pointers’ first scoring drive of the game.
