Gehl continued a phenomenal stretch as the key to UWSP’s success. She hit .282 for the week, including .481 and .500 in a pair of conference sweeps. Gehl recorded a double-double in three of the four matches this week and has had a double-double in six of the last seven matches. In Wednesday’s home sweep of UW-Stout, she had 15 kills and nine digs. On Friday, she hit .500 with 12 kills and 11 digs. She helped the Pointers complete a perfect week with 22 kills and 14 digs in a five-set win over Carthage and followed that with 15 kills and a career-high 21 digs in a sweep of Coe College. Gehl totaled 64 kills, 55 digs, six blocks, three aces and five assists on the week.
Other Nominees:
Kendra Kundinger: Kundinger’s consistency continued as she boosted the Pointers to a 4-0 record on the week. She recorded double-figure digs in all four matches on the week and has reached double digits in 22 of the 23 matches this season. She totaled 75 digs over the four matches and added 10 assists and five service aces.
Tanner Beaman: Beaman led all players with nine tackles in Saturday’s game against UW-La Crosse. He had a pair of tackles for loss and knocked down a pass attempt. Beaman was also pivotal thwarting a pair of UWL kicks as his pressure through the line caused one PAT to go wide and a field goal attempt to be missed by UWL.
Zach Bosek: Bosek was the most consistent offensive asset for the Pointers in Saturday’s conference opener. He rushed 12 times for 63 yards and an average of 5.3 yards per carry. His longest carry went for 14 yards and was one of three first downs gained on the ground by Bosek.
